Any new players have problems with DVD-R?

Hi,

I noticed the claimed compatibility for DVD-R is something like 90%... I presume it's the older players that won't play it so can all of the new players cope? Specifically I intend to get a Philips 963.

According to VCD Help this player will play DVD-Rs.
