Great News for Kiss DP-450 owners

Just when I was thinking of selling this player (the player is only NTSC prog scan but not MR ) I get an e-mail from one of Kiss' technical directors basically say the new official firmware that enables PAL Progressive is near completion and should be available for download very soon.

All I need now is a Multi Region Hack

Regards,

Region hack for the Kiss 450 can be found here:

http://www.firmware-flash.com/~hijacker/kiss/

You will need a PC and a screwdriver.....

Highly unlikely there will ever be a multi-region hand-set only hack, as the CDROM drive used in the Kiss 450 is ALSO region locked. That's why you must flash the drive itself. The firmware is for the drive - not the Kiss unit chips, etc. The Kiss playback rom requires no updating, as the handset access code allows access to multiregion and progressive scan video mode options already (boy, what a lot of them, seriously).

In regard to a firmware update from Kiss... that will be a firmware update to the Kiss itself then, rather than the drive? And this will allow progressive scan in PAL... something it appears my unit already can do?

Hi CoolioCat,
I managed to load the modified firmware onto my drive over the weekend and must say it was extremly easy .

BTW, My player can currently output 480p, 720p & 1080p which as far as I know are NTSC resolutions, so I take it your player can output 576p which the new firmware will eventually enable.

Regards,
