Taken the plunge... now which player

I have just gone for the Panny TX-32LXD700 now I would like a decent DVD player to go with it. Now do I pay out and get a blue ray, or HD DVD player, or just get an upscalling dvd player? I have the HD capability, now I want to use it. What would you recommend to compliment this panel, cheers guys.

Re: Taken the plunge... now which player

do you play games?

The purists will hate it, but I now use my XBOX 360 connected via VGA (like PC monitor).
The VGA is the important bit, as it upscales, I believe to 720p.
The picture quality is unbelievable on my Panasonic TH37PX70.

It is a lot better than my pioneer DVD 717 (granted this is old now).

If you are thining of blu-ray, I now think the PS3 is good value for money.

PS I wouldn't be suggesting either of these consoles for music!

Re: Taken the plunge... now which player

i would like to use it to play WoW, i would like a dvd player with amazing picture and sound quality alike. I am looking at spending well whatever , but if i can get a decent one on the cheap then so be it. I have been looking at the pioneer BDPLX70, but im no sure i need that tbh. Others I have looked at are the Marantz DV7001 and the denon DVD2930+DVD3930
