Talking Cyber Home ADL528

Looking for the best deal on a New DVD player for my parents want it to be Region free, along with being able to play VCD's and MP3's.
Have seen Cyber Home ADL528 at Richersounds for £99.99. Is there a cheaper place?
Any other recommendations for a budget DVD player. (Parents have to be dragged into the 21st Century)

Could try the Acoustic Solutions Multi-region model from Richer Sounds. See from Spectre's posting (this forum) that he rates the Cyber Home model as crap. Unless you also want your parents to toss it out of their bedroom window, would suggest avoiding the CH model.

LG 5253 £80 from Currys. I've already raved over it in another thread on cheap DVDs but forgot to mention that What Hi-Fi thought it was the beat sub £100 dvd player in their supertest back in November when it cost £99.99.

Have you visited http://dvdplayers.reviewcentre.com/ ?

Cyberhome 505

I just bought the Cyberhome 505 from Special Reserve for £89.

You can download new firmware from http://www.cyberhome-europe.de/ and using a utility from http://www.powerglitch.com/ called Abconf you can set it to multi region and macrovision disabled.

Alternatively, you can download the updated firmware aleady hacked from http://www.cyberhome-help.de/downloa...e_english.php4

Very easy to burn on to a CDR and simple to update the player.

Picture and sound quality for my requirements is fine and I can copy the kids DVD's for them to play in their bedroom on the VCR.

I can appreciate that it defeats the object of the superior quality of the DVD player but try explaining that to a 6 & 9 year old.

Cyberhome 505

Just a note following my last post...

Make sure you download the correct firmware version, it's easy to check

Menu 1234 for the firmware

Menu 1111 for region code

Just read the site info it's very straightforward but obviously it's at your risk.

They are selling it for 100 euros in Richer Sounds Eire. which is about £70.

A mate of mine walked into RS in preston pointed this out and walked out of the shop with an £80 (took postage into consideration) Cyberhome. A swift £20 saving!!!
