Question DVD coding

I have just bought 2 dvd's off the net one of which has just arrived and it is region 4 even though I ordered region 2, but for some strange reason this region 4 works on my toshiba sd2109b region 2 player. I'm totally confused because everywhere I have looked on the net it states that my toshiba model cannot be hacked. does anyone know if region 4 coded discs are compatible with region2 players?

Some DVDs are dual region coded and play on R2 and R4.

I presume you ordered a R2 from CD-WOW and they shipped you the R4. If so, they did this because they knew that the R4 was also coded for R2.
