Toshiba SD3107

I have had this player since the start of DVD and been happy until recently as it's started playing up (skipping, sticking...).

I am now going to update but to what?

Ideally I'd love a DVD recorder but with the good old format wars I don't think this a good idea for the time being.

I am I wise in getting a good budget player to tide me through? About £150 worth? Surely with the advances in DVD technology has made these as good as if not better than what I have.

Or should I go for a Sony DVP-NS705 as I've been offered a chiped one for £200? SACD sounds good I have to admit.

Any thoughts?
