I got my Pio 989 a few days now.
I have noticed that with the I link active that it doesnt have the same punch as the coaxial connection.
is this normal??

Depends what you refer to as 'punch'. Do you mean bass heavy?

I have noticed the same with a Denon via Denon link and the sound is transmitted neutral compared to the coax and using the amp to decode.
The same is true in my case with direct analog input.

We are all used to compressed music (sounds louder although much less dynamics) and heavy bass. When music sounds like it sounds originally we are missing something.

If you are familiar with the sound of a classic guitar you will appreciate the neutral replay via your equipment.
