I recently bought Panasonic SC-HT335 system. I can not play xvid coded files. It works with all other format I have tried. Is there anybody who can give me an advise what can I do to play such files

You could use convertxtodvd to convert to a good old fashioned disc.
Alternatively use something like Virtualdub or Mediacoder to convert to another compressed format using a compatible codec.
