where can I buy the 'OPPO DV-981HD' in UK?

Hi

I've decided after reading a few reviews to buy the Oppo instead of a Denon 1930 but I can't find a seller in UK, does anyone know where I can buy the Oppo in UK?

Is crtprojectors.co.uk a trustworthy company?

I thought I'd get a dvd player whilst i wait for my Spny 32' D3000 to turn up. Are you going to buy one? Plus do you have this Oppo? If so how would you rate it?

I have no idea but they have been mention in connection with the OPPO on at least one of it's threads. Have a quick trawl.

Nope. I'm not going to go near an HD machine until either a strong winner emerges or the price of dual players comes down.

[I'm still actually considering the LXD700 too ]

Good point.. I dont want to invest in a HD DVD just in case it doesnt win plus both camps have limited libraries and are 3x the price of a dvd. Mmm I think the Oppo is the correct option for me.

Still pondering the Panasonic?! I weren't I've tested the 70 version which has a the same screen supposely and whilst the PQ is very good.. the blacks are AVERAGE. This was the sole reason why I didnt buy the Panasonic. That's why it was such a relief the D3000 come through with flying colours. I've been waiting to buy a HD set for ages. The Sony fits the bill perfectly for me, native 720p is what I wanted for 360 action and 1080i for movies.

I'll gonna order with JL when they have stock. £1080.

I bought my Oppo direct from the US and paid customs, very little in it.

The Oppo shop in Sweden is within the European Union, so there's no customs duty or VAT to pay as I can confirm from my own experience.

Why bother buying overseas when you can get the Oppo from CRT? CRT have a great reputation for service and support.

Probably not...but considering I have 1st gen DVD players still working I think "peace of mind" isn't a concern. If it's DOA then different matter.

Re: where can I buy the 'OPPO DV-981HD' in UK?

The OppoShop in Sweden stocks the 981 with an RGB scart, which neither the US or CRT versions have.
Probably won't make a difference to most people, but it's a point to consider. Particularly if buying the unit as a stopgap while the HD war settles down.
