Please bear with me as I am no expert on these matters.

I recently bought an LG DNX190UH from Richer Sounds as I wanted a cheap multi region DVD player with component out. It is connected to my Sony KVL-V32M1 LCD using a Qunex P-CV1 cable. I settled down to watch my sons "The Wire" DVD box set and the picture is so jerky that it is unwatchable. I've done a forum search and found this:

However, mine has the newer Zoran chipset and the information given in the last post of the thread doesn't work on my machine (no disc in drive, hold pause button until player info appears). Have I bought a load of rubbish or is there an easy way to resolve this issue?
