Due to my denon 2900 not playing dvd's anymore im on the look out for a new player , originally before i bought a 2900 i was after a 9500 and still might be after one if the right one comes up , i know you can make a 9500 MR but will it play RCE's without a workround ? also im really after a black player so this fits into my set up better (its all black btw)

now im also very interested in the 989 unfortunatly this only comes in silver but i might be able to live with that,also this should play RCE's no prob and its kinda future proof with its HDMI and upscaling , not that ill be using either just yet as a have a scaler and will be using component

I really dont want another denon thats for sure , maybe even a SD900 as i dont need progressive scan , what do you guys think ? any recomendations , ive got a budget of about £400

hi yeah , ive seen that unfortuatly that has a small mark on it and it isnt MR , also just trying to gets some opinions first

baggy what do you think of your SD9500 ? also is yours only R2 ?

I have a Tosh 9500 but can't comment on it's MR playback as mine is still R2.
I had thought of getting the MR mod done but never got around to it because I don't play many DVD's on it.
I have a Phillips 963 SDI which I use for DVD playback.
I bought mine of this forum with the intention of using it mainly for DVD-A and as a CD player.
I'm not really using it to it's full potential but as you know they can be picked up for reasonable prices.

I love my SD-9500 - and even more impressed now I have a 42 inch Panasonic PWD8 plasma connected to it - just a superb film like - rich coloured - artefact free picture

Mine has the latest firmware - PAL and NTSC progressive.

and I got it tweaked to multi-region as far as I am aware its a firmware update/tweak. Cost me £60 inc carriage earch way for upgrade I think ?
