Just Got A Bush 2054 Divx Player (small Review Inside)

Hello Guys

Well after looking around the net for a cheapo divx player for the bedroom taking postage into account i thought i may aswell try the bush 2054 from argos first

its advertised as a 2051 in book for 29.99 but u get a 2054 model right to the nitty gritty

LOOKS

Well for a 30 quid player it dosent look as cheap as the umax ones on the net and fits in quite nice with its silver glossy front end.

The remote control is well built looks nice and dosent feel tacky also has a good range

CONNECTIONS

this player is limited connection wise but if its just rgb u want then ideal

comes with rgb scart and yellow vid out also the sond is either rca or coaxial for connection to a amp

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

my first impression when turning the player on were the screen was a tad dull but in the menu you get
3 settings and also a custom to tweak your own set to vivid and looks ok

The menu system is nicely layed out with many features

playback

playback of a proper dvd was very good with no skipping or jumping

divx and xvid now these played very very well tried all different types and sizes (apart from over 1 gig)
excellent no skipping or jumping even in fast forward mode which went to 16 speed

you get a nice menu appear showing all your divx stuff or jpegs

mp3s played great

tried a variety of discs including dvd-r dvd-rw dvd+r and rw cdr and different makes

it didnt fail to read one

NOW THE BAD

not really to much

the tray is very thin when it comes out so u need to be careful

seems to only support 8 letters when veiwing divx files

limited connection options

but at the end of the day i look at this this way

its only 29.99 at argos and your safe for a year no hassle if anything goes wrong

you can rename your files to overcome the 8 letter thing

if you just have a standard crt tv then the rgb is fine

ill try and get a few pics up over weekend

only thing i cant seem to find as not much on net is what chpset this uses and if it can be flashed

first reveiw ever so if it is ***** im sorry lol

Re: Just Got A Bush 2054 Divx Player (small Review Inside)

just another update after watching it for a lentgh of time

play is very good on all discs

also tried a divx on it with both packed and unpacked bitrate/streams

and it played both with no probs at all

other than that no probs

what i have noticed is if you put a dvd-r with multiple xvids on then it auto plays the first one but if you just press menu it brings the list back up for you to select

Re: Just Got A Bush 2054 Divx Player (small Review Inside)

i know it's been over a year, so i don't know if you've still got the Bush player - i've got one and am trying to play divx with it, but everytime i burn a dvd with avi files and try the dics in the dvd player, it keeps saying "bad disc". when i try the disc again in my PC it works fine.

what brand of recordable dvd do you use and how do you burn the avi files for playback on the dvd player?

help needed.

Re: Just Got A Bush 2054 Divx Player (small Review Inside)

hi mate yes ive still got the player in my bedroom has ran for hours most nights(i fall asleep) since i had it bargain buy

i just do the following

1 make sure file is a divx file not over a gig

2. use a decent disc i have been using panasonic dvd-r ,verbatim dvd-rw and also some cheap ones infact i have never had a bad disc with any brand i use which is normally just the cheapest i can get at the time

3. i use nero the express bit

4. just goto to burn then data dvd not video files must be data dvd then put the avi file you want in then click burn

thats it

Re: Just Got A Bush 2054 Divx Player (small Review Inside)

Cheers.

you mention divx and avi. does the file need to be converted from .avi to divx before it is burned to dvd, or is it ok to burn .avi straight to dvd?
