UK & USA Format

Hi
Can anyone advise me please:

I want to play my UK (region) dvd's when I'm in the Caribbean.
I have been unable to find a hack to make my DVD players in the Caribbean region free, so I intend to take a UK DVD player out with me.

The TV that I'm using in the Caribbean is Toshiba 36AX61. It has the following inputs:
Component
Video
S-Video

So far so good......but given that the TV is NTSC and the DVD's are PAL will it work?...ie: will a DVD player using PAL discs play on this (NTSC) TV?

Thanks

Re: UK & USA Format

A lot of TVs designed for NTSC territories don't accept PAL (or any type of 50hz video) at all.

However... some territories receive International models, designed to play anything. Do you know what versions of TVs the Carribean tends to get?

If it's an NTSC-only TV, then you can buy a DVD Player that will do an OK-ish job of squeezing 25 frames per second into a 30 frames per second signal which you can send to the TV.

If you look at www.220giftcenter.com , they have a page of players that are both region free and have built in video converters so they can take a PAL DVD and output that as NTSC. But the results might vary, they might be a little juddery:
