Denon DVD-1730 or 1930?

Hi,

I am considering buying the 1730, but was originally attracted to the 1930. The price was a major factor in me opting for the 1730. However, i was just wondering whether anybody could give me any advise as to what i may be losing out on. I have compared the specs, but i am not really any clearer in understanding the differences. From what i read the only differences are the upscaler technology and music playback capabilities. What i want to know is, is it worth me saving that extra £90 for the 1930?

Re: Denon DVD-1730 or 1930?

What a touch, yesterday i bit the bullet and just went and bought the 1730 from Richersounds for £119.95, he wouldn't do a deal on the unit on its own, but would do deal with hdmi cable. So i got the 1730 and a 1mtr ixos hdmi cable for £169.95 the hdmi cable on its own costs £80.
When i got home i noticed a nasty scratch on the top of the unit. So today i took it back and got an exchange, but to my surprise the new box had dvd 1930 written on the side, so i kept quiet and walked out with the 1930.

I was told when i bought the 1730 that if anything goes wrong with it then it would be replaced with a 1930 under warranty as they no longer manufacture the 1730. But i didn't expect that with just a scratch. Anyway im well pleased.

Nice result, I thought the 1730 was Denons latest model though, can't believe they've stopped manufacturing it already.

It was the Richersounds in Bromley that exchanged the 1730 for the 1930.

I think the wmv label, means that you can burn wmv files onto a data disk and the dvd player would be able to playback the files.

It says WMA, not WMV.

Re: Denon DVD-1730 or 1930?

I purchased the Denon 1920 from Richer Sounds Bromley and quite often decides not to turn on, I haven't had a chance to get back down there but will do so when I have time.

Re: Denon DVD-1730 or 1930?

just bought a 1730 from RS in liverpool for £119. Very pleased as picture (RGB Scart on a CRT) is brighter with better colours than my Denon 900 bought 5 years ago. Had a look at the 1930 but thought at £119 the 1730 can always go in the bedroom if not happy and get the 1930. So far so good.
