Want DVD Upscaler under £100. Recommendations?

Hi guys,

Ive been looking at a few in woolies and comet and currys but just am at the point now of over-researching it! i mean whatever i find i think yeah i will have that one and then find bad stuff written about it and flaws.. I guess this could be said for any item when you look into it too much eh! But now ive reached the point where im stuck...

Latest thing that floored me was a thread i was reading about a mediatek chip or something like that. which meant that only noncopyprotected dvds could be upscaled... so all my movies on dvd would not be upscaled by certain players?? whats the point in getting one then! you can see why i have become stuck!

So - i have a Bravia 40" - i want a player that will upscale and have HDMI output aswell as component - needs to be multi region aswell...and under £100!!

What do you recommended, what do you have? and where did you get it from?

Re: Want DVD Upscaler under £100. Recommendations?

yeah i been reading a lot about this player - its in argos at 99.99 but not multi region.. i only have cash to pay and no plastic so cant buy off net on that link you gave me, and there is no handset hack for these pannys if i go get it from argos - pretty frustrated as i had just decided that this was the one!!

anyone know any shops that sell them multi region?

Or you could buy the well regarded Sony DVP-NS76H from Superfi at £90 http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/p...roduct_ID/2729 already multi region. Some people report problems with DivX, but as the dedicated thread shows there are a lot of very satisfied users.

Re: Want DVD Upscaler under £100. Recommendations?

All of the players mentioned will be fine. When I was researching my purchase, it was between the Sony 76H, Pioneer 696 and Toshiba 360e. After deliberating and reading the various forums, I went with the Sony and haven't regretted it. It's a fantastic player and will do me fine until HD/BluRay is sorted out. The Panasonic 52 is also supposed to be a good player but wasn't out when I bought mine. I would make sure it's multi-region though so buying from currys, comet et' al is out. I got mine from multiregionmagic. I've also used Superfi for purchases and can recommend both.
