Philips DVP 3020/40 and whats is DivX?

Hi
looking a cheap DVD player that will play most discs and is cheap.

seen the philips DVP 3020 in tesco for £34.97.
worth going for? is it recommended to get a player that plays DivX. what is this format briefly? i do play a lot of copied discs.

the next model up on this page plays divX, is it a lot better?

divx is a proprietary implementation of mpeg4.
