Recommend a HDMI DVD Player

Hi

Im ordering my Samsung LE26R73BD tonight (managed to get it for a bargain £481 from currys) and i want to upgrade to an upscaling dvd player to match.

Im looking for a decent HDMI player which is multi region, can play the usual VCD, DVD-Rs etc and comes in silver.

im looking to spend around £70 - £110

if anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated

Re: Recommend a HDMI DVD Player

You can get the sony for £89.95 including delivery from here:

http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/page/moreinfo.cfm/Product_ID/2729

Also consider the Samsung HD950 which I believer comes with an hdmi cable. 99.95 from richer sounds:

http://www.richersounds.co.uk/showpr...=SAMS-DVDHD950

Good luck with your hunting!

The Samsung HD860, will match your TV (looks nice), HDMI, plays DVD DIVX etc, easy to hack, in your budget - I have one - my only issue is in the last two days it has paused on a DVD for say 5 seconds. Not sure if this is just mine being dodgy or something.

i think the Sony is looking like the best bet from superfi, had a look at some reviews of the samsung and they arent good. Which Marantz were you refering to?

SH18
Just bought the Sony dvp-ns76h today Watched Shrek 2 and am currently watching Harry Potter & Prisoner of Azkeban (Wife's a big Potter fan) I was a bit unsure about upscaling even after reading lots of posts on this forum. All i can say is that it looks like it will be an excellent player Bought from John Lewis because of the 2 yr guarentee ( this will be my 4th player they keep packing up ) Playing through a Tosh W32LT66 picture quality is better than i expected . For £90 ish looks like it will be a good buy (if my DVD player jinx doesn't affect it

Hi,

I'm in a similar position. I have a Panny Progressive Scan DVD connected via a Mark Grant Component cable to my 37PX600. The picture quality is stunning! Is there any point in upgrading to a DVD Upscaler via HDMI? Will I see any benefit?

Mark.

Mine also came with an HDMI to DVI cable. Nice player but the display is BRIGHT white - and has to be turned off manually every time via menus.

Also, no DTS decode to analogue.
