Component Connection

With my DVD player, I have always used SCART connections but am looking to connect my new DVD/TV set-up using component (as I have heard it is much better quality than SCART). My question is, if using component, does this connection carry sound? If not how do I get sound out of the DVD player? In the future I will have a home cinema set-up so will be using the coaxial/optical output for that but in the mean time what do I do? Many thanks for any advice!

Re: Component Connection

No, a component cable does not carry any sound. You'll need a separate interconnect for the sound. On the back of your dvd player you will see it has a standard stereo white and red phono output and hopefully your tv will have the same... just connect the two together with an interconnect and you'll have sound.

Re: Component Connection

Though component should be better then RGB SCART, don't expect a quantum leap.

You can expect a noticable improvement.
It is well worth doing.
