Philips DVP5960

Hi, I recently picked up a Philips DVP5960 DVD player to use with my loewe concept and I must say im very impressed, picture qualtiy is excellent, region free after hacking and divX playback all for just over £60. The only thing that concerns me and I may be being incrredibly stupid here and missing something but....

Theres no rewing button! all I can do is go by chapter. Seriously, how stupid do you be to make this absent from the remote. Its like not having the pause button.

Is it just me and is there a way to rewing and fast forward is it really that much of a mess up ont he remote

Cheers,

Tom

Hello - wrong forum methinks... you probably would be better to post this in the DVD forum.

Re: Philips DVP5960

I don't know your model but guess it is an upscaling player? If so the Standard Definition DVD forum would be your best bet... perhaps one of the mods will move it for you... that way you will at least get the answer you need.

Hope this helps.

And the answer is, your left and right cursor buttons provide this functionality.

It's not you. the remote sucks.

Fortunately, player functionality make up for this shortcoming otherwise I would have returned it months ago.

Re: Philips DVP5960

so pressing left and right buttons on the four way directional pad allows me to fast forward and re-wind.

I presumed it didnt even have that functionality as I couldn't even see any mention of these inthe manual.

Re: Philips DVP5960

I had the same issue - i.e couldn't find out how to rewind/ffwd.
However, on a 2nd pass of reading the manual I found it marked on page 16 (the diagram of the remote) and on page 24 (last section - Forward / Reverse Searching).

Hey. I just got the DVP5960. so far i'm fine with it haha. Just wondering what the hack for the multi-region is, and best general settings. I've got it connected to a Sony Bravia 32V2000 via HDMI

IMO, region change function on this machine seem a well implemented but undocumented feature. I would not call it a hack.

Region change function on previous Philips are legitimate hacks, however. But if you insist on calling this 5960 feature a hack, see the following:
