Budget back up?

As with so many, unfortunately my TagDVD32R has bitten the dust. However its such an awsome player I cant bare to bin it, so it will be going to IAG for repair (this will take about six weeks ). So I would like some suggestions for a budget fill in/back up machine that performs well mainly for DVD replay. I dont want to spend too much as I have a feeling the repair bill for replacement control hardware will be quite steep

Re: Budget back up?

A big for the Sony 76H. Although a Tag owner's idea of budget might be different to most of us! !

Re: Budget back up?

Hi Thunder
what about an Oppo DV971 via dvi into your HDP, it's a very good budget player as long as your able to use the dvi output. It doesn't perform that well via component.

It would also be quite easy to sell on via the forums with not to much loss once you get your DVD32R back from IAG

Re: Budget back up?

The ideal would be the 970 as it would pass an interlaced signal on to the Lumagen which the 971 cannot. However the output of my Lumagen to my CRT projector is analogue RGBHV, this means that HDCP will prevent the D to A conversion.

Re: Budget back up?

What about an older ex-flagship dvd player like the Sony DVP7700, Tosh 900e, Onkyo DV939 etc. There was an Onkyo 939 up sale on the forums awhile ago going for £250with no takers may well take a little less
