Samsung HD DVD-950 SACD playback

I've got my Samsung 950 set-up and was REALLY looking forward to hearing SACD playback. I've got it all wired up correctly but when I play an SACD the sound is only coming from the front two channels and is really quiet. There is nothing from centre, rears or sub? I've got the Samsung set to 'multi' in the SACD menu.

I've got 3 pairs of phono's going from the 5.1 analog outputs on the 950 to the inputs on my Yamaha amp so that's all done correctly.

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

Simple checklist:

1. Make sure Yamaha amp is set to Multichannel input.
2. Make sure Samsung is playing the Multichannel layer. This appears (if memory serves) in the top left of the display when playing SACDs.
3. Check polarity on the phono leads.

Hope this helps

Are you sure the SACD you are playing is a multi channel disc? They are not all multichannel!

Yes...it is supposed to be 5.1. It's Jeff Wayne's War Of The Worlds.

The DVD player is playing the SACD layer...SACD shows up on the front display and I am choosing the 'multi' layer in the menu.

The phono leads are all connected correctly. I have 3-pairs of phono's. They are QED's. I have them all paired up correctly from what I can see.

I have selected multichannel input on the amp.

It's just not having it

make sure your amp is set to analogue input, and not the optical, and also recheck the settings on the 950 to ensure your telling it you have all 5.1 big speakers (or appropriately same sized)

Hey...just wanted to post that I got the SACD to work. I hadn't been into the Samsung DVD player menu and activated the rear and sub outputs. Too impatient and started using it without reading the manual

I'm amazed at how good the SACD playback is...'War Of The Worlds' and 'Dark Side Of The Moon' take on a new lease of life in 5.1 SACD.

Thanks for the help guys.
