Toshiba 360 or Samsung HD-950 ?

looking to buy a DVD player this weekend that has HDMI, Divx etc.

Have narrowed down my choice to

Toshiba 360
Samsung HD-950
Samsung HD-860

Which one would you recommend.... i heard that the previous Toshiba Model 350e had some freezing issues, do you know if they have been sorted on the 360 ? Also, are there easy handset hacks for all these models to make them region free ? Which of them has been the most reliable ?

Thanks in advance

I`ve got the 950 (although i screwed up my first one messing with the firmware) and i really like it. PQ is pretty damn good through the HDMI.

Setup menus are good and easy too

I am after a new machine too and have been looking at the Toshiba 360, but it only has digital coaxial and I need optical. Have you seen the picture quality via component yet?

My other machine of interest is the Pioneer 696, although £160.00 is right at the top end of my budget range..................The machine is not on Pioneer's website as yet, but AVLand of Wellingborough have pictures and spec on their website.

is it easy to make region free from the handset ? Also... what was your firmware issue & why were you trying to upgrade it ?

PQ by component is pretty good.

Reigon free is a very easy handset hack. I messed with the firmware to try to get hdcp out. Some people manage it, i didn`t. happens

Great!!

you'd think with all the latest technology out there, you would'nt have problems already with a new machine like the 860. It's getting so I dare not spend my money and settle on the Philips DVP 3005 (I think) I saw in Virgin Records - at least that had prog scan for £40.00.

Not too much if there ends up being issues................

Personally I`m waiting for more information on the new Pioneer players: 490, and the 6 series.
