Samsung HD850 Sound Problem

Hi,

I'm on my second 850 (first one stopped reading discs after a week) and both have had the same problem.

If I'm watching a DVD through HDMI on my Sagem DLP and pause the disc, when I re-start it the sound has gone fuzzy. Even a low volumes there is distortion on low mid and high frequency sounds (speech, sound fx, music etc).

I've tried my spare DVD player and its fine so I know its not my TV.

If I revert back to SCART the problem is solved but this is a waste of a digital player !!

Anyone had similar problems or any ideas on how to solve it ?

Thanks

did you also connect your spare dvd player via hdmi?

do you have the right settings on the dvd player? (ie. if audio is via hdmi then you are outputting pcm and not bitstream?)

and it's not homegrown discs you are playing with mpg audio or divx?

have you considered the problem may be with the hdmi input on the tv?

Have tried all sound type settings on TV and DVD player, both HDMI slots and a whole load of different discs !

Its strange that the sound always starts out ok, but as soon as I do anything with the DVD (pause it, go into a sub menu etc) it distorts until I do a reset.

try taking the hdmi cable out, turning it around, so the tv end is in the dvd player and dvd end in the tv

put the dvd player on pcm output, and read the manual of tv and dvd player
