Snazio 1350 DVD Playback

I have read that the Snazio although great at streaming has problems with playback from the DVD drive.

Can Snazio owners confirm or deny this?

Yes, there is a small problem and it's supposed to be fixad in the next firmware...
The Snazio is still the most stable network dvd player i.m.o...

Hmmm........I haven't noticed mine stuttering, in fact I'm very pleased with the DVD playback quality. OK, it's not a top end £900 Pioneer et al, but then you haven't paid that.

For the sixty odd quid cost of adding the DVD player bit to the basic SZ1310 to arrive at the SZ1350, it's fantastic value and performance. What else can you get for £60 !

HD streaming ain't bad either !

Azzin,

Have you got a Snazio?

If so what do you think of the DVD playback?

go to mpcclub.com and look at user reports, there is a whole section on 1350, IMO the benefits far outweigh the niggles

I do have a 1350 & I think it's a superb piece of kit.

The DVD playback is excellent IMO, & is far superior to that of the Philips 5900 that I am currently selling.

I recently bought a Snazio 1350 and can confirm I have noticed intermittant stuttering (fast forward effect) on playback of standard DVDs (every 15 - 20 minutes it seems to happen). Streaming video is fine, and overall i'm pleased, however this is the only black mark I would put against this otherwise brilliant player.

What is it like with DivX/XVid material? Any problems playing those?

Also, I know streaming HD material wirelessly has lead to problems .. but has anyone tried streaming using a wired network from their PC?

No problems here.

No problems here either!

I have 2 x external hard disks. 1 is an ethernet one that's connected to my router, the other is connected to my PC via USB 2.

I can stream via ethernet from either disk.

HTH.

Would you say that DVD playback is as good as say a £100 upscaling dvd player such as the Samsung HD850?

The Snazio is far superior IMO.

I had a Philips DVP5900 which I would class picture wise as almost identical to the Samsung, & the Snazio picture is far far better than that.

You asked about picture quality.

No DVD player (or product for that matter) is perfect-not even one you pay £2500 for.

You pays your money, you takes your choice...

I love the Snazio, I don't personally experience any stuttering playing my HD stuff from my Maxtor HDD, but other people have experienced it.
