For any Lafayette DVD969D owners....

Hi All,

Having bought one of bigpockets 969D's last year, I had been using it as a basic player in another room (main player is an Oppo 971). Its divx/xvid support wasn't great - jerky playback at the best of times, and its component output left a lot to be desired. I have been looking for alternative firmware on and off for quite some time, and have finally found one!

The player is based somewhat on the BBK 969. Couldn't find much for that player either, but eventually found that there is a player from a Norwegian company called "asono" which appears to compatible. Check out www.asono.com , and the DVDX70+ - they have a firmware for it to download. I took the risk, and burned it to disk, and popped it in the player - lo and behold it worked, and the divx playback is now excellent quality, and component output has improved also. No jerky playback on divx any longer!

Be aware that flashing firmware can turn your player into a dead unit - mine went fine, but cannot vouch for other's players...

Cheers,
A happy Lafayette DV969D owner!

NOTE:
The file which I used was: DVDX70Plus_ogg.zip (which includes OGG support)
When upgrading, put in the disc, then when instructed, press play.
The tray will open - DO NOT SWITCH OFF THE PLAYER aat this point.
Wait, and eventually it should reboot (it takes some time too).
