Which is better, new or old Marantz DVD??

I've just bought a DV4300 (new). Sadly, my Phillips LCD doesnt support component in (***!?) so i cant take advantage of the dv4300's progressive scan via component out. I've got the chance to purchase a second hand DV7010 from a friend of a friend that has seen a fair bit of use...question is..

Which is the better purchase, both in terms of pic quality, sound quality and lifespan?
