Two DVD Questions

1.
Does anyone know what Region Z is? Is this a zone free DVD player?

2.
Is an RGB scart on a dvd player output only? If it is an input RGB scart with only S-video and component output does the DVD player convert the signal?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Cheers,

Pip

Not sure that I completely understand the question but the main scart socket on a two scart machine is output only and the second scart is passthrough.

The passthrough is not always the same with some older machines only passing composite but most modern ones will passthrough RGB as well. I am not sure about s-video

DVD region codes are split into the folwing groups.

0=Region Free(Should play on any machine).

The SCART out om ny DVD player (Pioneer 717) can be configured for RGB, Composite or S-Video. But this is not the cas on all DVD players though.

The TV will normally auto detect RGB or Composite via AV1 socket.
S-Video has to be configured on the TV via AV2 and/or AV3
