upgrading a pioneer 575

How far up the tree would I need to go to upgrade from a Pioneer 575 to get an appreciable difference in quality of picture and sound?
I am currently feeding the component output into a JVC LT37DS6 LCD (HD Ready with HDMI), and the audio into a Naim 5.1 rig.
It will need to be capable of playing DVD-A and SACD.

Any help appreciated

Personally I'd stick with the Pio until HD/Bluray players comes out. The 575 is a very capable machine and maybe one of the best in it's price range for progressive scan over component. Maybe you could see an improvement with the Denon 1920 for example but would it be that much of one to warrant spending an extra £200, I doubt it.

The Oppo will give you a slightly more detailed pic but probably not worth the extra. Oppo doesn't do SACD but you can keep the Pio for that.

Thanks for the replies ............... Im a bit underwhelmed by the upscaling issue at the moment and fear there is a "jump on the bandwagon" mentality going on at the moment. Is the difference in the visual quality that remarkable? After all all DVDs are 480i at source?

No, unless your display is particularly poor at scaling.
