Oppo is it worth it?

Hi guys,
was looking at getting an Oppo
or a Pioneer 575 or 585 not really sure?

Im also getting this TV
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/sto...m=null&tm=null

for my room is the DVI connection of the oppo worth paying more for? (PQ)
or sud i stick with component and Pioneer?
Thanks
Nico

the oppo only delivers a good picture via DVI, you will also need to check if you need HDCP on that display, i cant see it mentioned and i also cant remember if the oppo needs HDCP for its DVI output. But normaly these days its a must.

as for the display
25ms response time is also a bit naff and also other sites say its only 500:1 for contrast which again is a bit naff. and non of the sites say that its DVI HDCP, which is even naff`er.

It has got HDCP.

Im just wondering if the DVI of the oppo is worth me paying like £50 more for this feature?
Thanks

Oppo does not need HDCP so is compatible with all DVI inputs....this is an excellent player and would recommend to anyone.

If you can use the oppo then go with that, the picture via DVI is really quite good and much better than the other two you mention.

Heres a review for the oppo with its new firmware, as you can see it passes everything

http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/cgi-b...PDV971H%20(DVI)

I still would not go near that display, but it is cheap i suppose. You go near this with a games console and any fast motion you will see why. 16MS response time is just about as slow as you want to go.

I understand that, and it is a good price for its feature set so i maybe being a bit harsh on it.
Its a shame you cant get to see one in action, that may help.
I will have a quick scan and see if theres anything around.

Can you get away with a bit more money for the display, I know it may take a bit more saving but somtimes you get what you pay for and no more.

You may want somthing small so forgive if im on the wrong track but somthing like this would give good enjoyment. The specs are good and i have seen one in action and the oic with DVD is very fine indeed. Might be too big or too much money but a little extra saving can make all the difference.

I also found anotherreview for the Screen you list, take a look.

Before the last update it choked on them--now it plays discs I thought were duds (I wonder how many I've binned!)
