Well, I have a question.

I need a special dvd palyer wth a dec with dolby ex or dts-es for reproduce 6.1 channels in a onkyo home theater with 6.1 channels??? or only if my dvd player say that have dolby digital and dts can reproduce audio with 6.1 channels in a receiver with 6.1 channles

your amp needs to be DTS-ES or dolby digital EX compatable.
the dvd player wont need to be as its the amp that decodes the extra channels for the EX bit.

so to get ES or EX you need an amp that can decode those sound formats

the amp will do all the decodeing, i.e dd 6.1 or dts 6.1 or even bog standard 5.1.

my system set up 7.1 and the only films i have that support it are the 3 lord of the rings films. At start of the films LODs in in sound options select dts 6.1 & you will be in the middles of the fights.

Yes Wray2k, on January I going to buy a Onkyo HT-680, this system have an 6.1 amplifier. Un the store the diference of cost from the 5.1 channels model to the 6.1 channels not is big, for this I like the 6.1.
