recommend me a dvd player to go with my Pioneer AX10i amp

My trusty Pioneer DV757Ai has just packed up meaning I need to get a new player. I really like the simplicity and quality I got via the iLink connection. If I wish to continue with this connection to my Pioneer amp, do I have to choose one of their machines again or is it a generic standard that other manufacturers DVD players can work with. I do not want to spend any more than £500, and the new big Pioneer is too big to fit in my cabinets, so that is not an option.

so do I have to use a Pioneer DVD player to use iLink, or is it just a firwire connection that any other brand will work with? I would go with the 989 but it is too big. The smaller Pioneers don't have an iLink connection which seems odd

I am not sure if you could use i-link with other brands, maybe the pros in here could answer that
