The best Dual Progressive scan for less than £150??

Hi all, I have only just registered here and I need advice because I have just bought a Hyundai 42 inch plasma and I need to find a good progressive player (Ive always used scart and I'm curious to connect these component cables up!) but it needs to be both PAL and NTSC. I've spent hours scouring for such a player but they only seem to be Pal OR NTSC. Or can they be firmware hacked to play all?

I'm sorry if this is a common question!

My yamada 2100 just gives me a blank screen thru component.

tia for any replies!

Are you looking for a progressive player that can be region hacked or a player that can do progressive scan with both PAL sourced films and NTSC sourced films???

Both prefereably but I can maybe RIP the DVD to take the region from it if need be.

Thanks.

I think you can't go wrong with the Pioneer 380 or 585 if quality progressive scan at a good price is an issue...these babies have 108Mhz/12 bit DACs...

How about the Toshiba 350e (£75)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...488114-8741403

Gets very good reviews, particularly for it component progressive output.

And will automatically switch between PAL and NTSC as required.

Hi Guys,

Kalos Geros posted this earlier "I think you can't go wrong with the Pioneer 380 or 585 if quality progressive scan at a good price is an issue...these babies have 108Mhz/12 bit DACs..."

sorry for "hijacking" here - but just curious - does anyone know which is better: 108Mhz/12bit (like in the new Sony NS92) Video DACs or 216Mhz/11bit (like in the Panasonic DVD-S97) ?

Do not touch Samsungs for component, you'll find discussion on this forum of them putting dumbing capacitors in the component signal path to make it look poor vs the DVI/HDMI output....PJ

Get yourself a Pioneer DV-575 - its performance via component isn't bettered unless you spend ~3 times the cost...

Try the componant out on your DVD player first but before you do when the scart is still plugged in, make sure through the menu that the dvd player is set to output componant, then plug the cables in and select that input on your display.

jamiev...there is no other player that I know of beside Samsung that upscales via component...LG DVX9900H does upscale via comp, but only the discs that are not copy-protected...ppl say however that the Samsung outputs upscaled component with higher quality from SCART's RGB pins so you may try getting a SCART-to-RCA adpater...
