Denon dvd1920 or stick with my pioneer 737?

Hi All

Just about to get a new Pioneer 43" plasma PDP-436XDE and I currently have a Pioneer 737 dvd player. It only has component output so am worried that it won't look that great. However, I'm really pleased with the picture quality it outputs to my current Toshiba 36" CRT. Is it worth swapping it for the Denon dvd1920 or something similar to get the HDMI connectivity? Will the 1920 be better than the 737? If not the 1920 then what would you recommend? Only want to spend up to about 300 quid all in ideally so the 1920 will leave me with some spare cash to spend on interconnects

Cheers all,

By all accounts the plasma will do just as good a job for the conversion. I would wait for true HD material before the outlay.

I'd hold fire on getting a Denon 1920 as there are many owners experiencing lip sync problems.

(I'm an ex-owner as I sent it back for a refund)

Cheers all,
I`m in exactly the same boat, upgrading from tosh 36" to the 43" pioneer, but the dvd player i`m considering is the philips dvp9000s (it`s had good reviews and is available for £250 from amazon) but like you i`m not sure if there`ll be that great an increase in picture quality from my current denon dvd700 player. Would be grateful for anyones thoughts
