Samsung HD950 HDMI settings

I have been having problems trying to connect a Samsung HD950 to a JVC 37DS6, using a HDMI cable.

When I play a DVD, every few seconds the screen flashes green, then black for a second, then continues playing. The DVD is still playing when this happens. I have tried it with (genuine) Region 1 and region 2 DVDs and it is still the same.

I have tried it with another HDMI cable and the problem is still there, but when I play it through the component output the display is fine.

The Samsung manual suggests trying either mode A or B, but does not say how to select the different modes.

Does anyone have any ideas what I am doing wrong and what settings I should be using?

Yes, I've tried them all - still the same.
