Which should be shortest - HDMI cable or Digital Coax?

My projector is 5m away from the main equipement cabinet.
Should I place the DVD player near the projector using a short HDMI cable but long (5m) digital coax to surround sound processor, or, place the DVD player near the surround sound processor via short digital cable, but long (5m) HDMI cable to projector?

Pros and cons about cables lenghts ect. but just from a £££ point of view go for the shorter HDMI

HDMI....short.

5m for coax is no problem. Take a look at cable specs in RS or Farnell web catalogues.
