Panasonic DVDS49

Has anyone got any views on this player and know what the main difference is between this and the cheaper DVDS29 - apaert from the extra £50?

Also I have noticed in Panasonics manual that it looks silver & black, but the ones in the shops are mirrored silver not as they appear on websites or in the brochure, can anyone back this up?

I think the main differences is that the DVD-S49 can play DVD-Audio, HDCD and Divx discs, which the DVD-S29 cannot. It also has a 5.1 decoder

"Performance" wise, it is probably identical.

The S-49 also has a better D/a converter ( 108mhz/12-bit as opposed to the 29s 54mhz/10 bit) so has increased picture quality aswell.

How does this player compare to the Pioneer DV2850-S

They seem to have the same specs, but wonder which would have the best pic quality?

Are you sure the Panasonic DVD-S29 can't play DivX discs? In the Owners Manual, on Panasonic.co.uk, they claim that it can. The model number is actually DVD-S295. Here's the link:
