Panasonic s97 with pioneer 435xde hdmi colour problem

Hi
I have the pan s97 running to the pioneer 435xde hdmi, but every time i play dvds some colours are not correct there a tints of purple in part of the pic eg cream wall and you can see little purple colour. I have a QDE hdmi lead, i was using the hdmi lead that came with the player and i thought that this was the problem i was wrong!!

Any ideas??

Go into the menu and trying changing the HDMI Colour mode from Y/Cb/Cr to RGB - expirement with the different options.

Just an idea - I've never heard of that problem and don't have much experience with HDMI.

Thats a problem with the S97, you need to download the latest firmware.

versions 536, 540, 541 have this known bug tamed but not eliminated.
(or 541 may have cured it. It has corrected the pal pixel cropping issues sobest download 541. I will post a link in a sec)

It can be seen best with the Avia or DVE test patterns and has been discused on the S97 thread in the AVSforums

A useful tip, but is this firmware for UK players and does the firmware upgrade make the player R2 only?

Nope, a R2 only player will still be R2 only after the upgrade, and a multi-region player will stay multi-region.

(In fact, the upgrades are actually issued by Panasonic of America - their UK arm knows nothing about them)

yeah just did the upgrade last night and i can confirm that this update will work just fine with R2 machines. it also as lyris said not overwrite the MR function if you have a MR machine already
