This was/is quite a common problem with the 220E if you search forum.
To fix the problem you have to flash the DVD player firmware. I have a copy of the instructions but can't find the firmware anymore. The only link is now dead (see below). Perhaps if you search hard enough you maybe to find it on the Internet. I know the firmware works as I upgraded a player about 2 years ago.

Burning the firmware to CD-R (Nero Burning ROM):
1.Burn Image file using the bin file
2.Burn In Disc at once mode
3.Tick Raw Data
After Burning :
1.Picture menu and select Pal / Auto
2.Put the burned disc in the tray and wait
3.A message appears, after 15 seconds you may eject the disc
4.Turn off your player and switch it again
