I've only seen the DV79 available at list price (£1000).

Does anyone know of a store selling them at less than list?

I know some retailers are doing a few quids worth of accessories with them but I'm really looking at the lowest price available for just the player. That way, it get's a bit more competitive with the 868i and 3910.

Anyone know or do Arcam insist retailers don't discount?

Bought mine at Superfi just after Christmas for £800. I think there are deals elsewhere too - suggest you do a web search.

There is no insistence from Arcam not to discount, but that fact is thta it is one of the best players around at £1000 and doesn't require any discount for it to sell easily. We did a test yesterday of the Arcam DV79, DV29 vs the Denon 3910, DVD-A11 and the Pioneer 868. The DV79 easiliy outperformed both of the Denons and the Pioneer with much more vibrant colours and a sharper image. Both the Denon and Pioneer players looked like there was a faint mist over the picture in comparison. The DV29 was better than the DV79 but by very small margin.
