Samsung HD745 - Question does it scale over Component?

OK, having read loads and loads of differing posts about the Samsung 745, can somebody please answer me this question: -

Does the Samsung 745 scale to 720p/1080i over the component connection? I know it obviously does over DVI, but component is what I need

I understand I would need the region free hack to enable this, but I would really like clarification before buying!!

Thanks

I compared from only a few inches away... not much difference. The picture is a bit sharper with DVI but the best thing about component is that the blacks are better (10 of 10 shades of black in the starwars THX optimizer and only 7 of 10 blacks with DVI) but I admit I have mine with DVI on the TV...

TV is a Sharp GD1E.
