Denon 1910 to Philips LCD

I am about to receive a Philips 23PF9956 LCD, which (unfortunately found out since ordering) does not have component inputs. It is does however have a DVI-I input, and therefore was thinking of perhaps going for the DVI enabled Denon DVD player to link up. However (as a complete and utter 'newbie' to all things AV) could someone kindly advise if the DVI-D outputted Denon will be compatible with the DVI-I inputted Philips. Thanks very much

Hi mate, I'm pretty sure you will be ok with this.

DVI-I will accept DVI-I and DVI-D

Make sure you get a DVI-D cable. The 1910 has a DVI-D port and although a DVI-I port can take DVI-I and DVI-D cables, a DVI-D port will only take a DVI-D cable.

Arrow really?

Richie, are you sure that's right?

I have a Denon 1910 connected to a Sanyo PLV Z2

The Denon is DVI-D, the PJ DVI-I

I got NExnix to send me a DVI-DVI cable which when it arrived was DVI-I - DVI-I

It worked perfectly, have I just got the wrong end of the stick?

It would also be worth checking that the Philip's dvi input is HDCP compat, AFAIK the denon only output digital signals with HDCP from it's dvi output

As you haven't even received the Philips yet, why don't you just exchange it for a different model that has all the inputs you require.

All - Thanks for the advice. The Philips website is confsuing as it states on one part that the LCD is DVI-D and on another that it is DVI-I. Will perhaps have to do some more 'fishing around' to find out which is correct. As far as it being HDCP compat - again the part of the philips website that states the LCD is DVI-I mentions that it is fully compat. Perhaps I might just have to consider going for an alternative which has component inputs.
