Question Stupid question, i guess

But do you need a dvd player with DTS logo on it to play DTS soundtracks ?.
I have an old Toshiba SD-3107B player but it only has the Dolby-Digital logo in it, I`m getting a Yamaha DSP-A5 which has a D/Digital & DTS decoder in it but will be able to get a DTS track ?

Cheers
Ian

You need the logo.
Having said that there are a few exceptions.
The only way to know is play DTS disc. You may get lucky.

DTS CD (ie music only): no logo needed
DTS DVD (ie movies): logo needed

The exceptions mentioned are very, very rare.

The Toshiba will NOT play DTS DVD, I had one of those before.

I am positive you do NOT need a player to have the DTS logo on it in order to play DTS material.

You may very well need the DTS hardware inside the machine though...

Sorry... lol
