Problem with sound output - Sony DAV S800

My DVD player has been rather temperamental recently. The sound started cutting out, and recently there is no sound when playing DVDs. Oddly the sound works fine in radio mode. The picture is perfect, and as far as i can tell the player otherwise is fine. The speakers work fine too. Any ideas before i buy a new one?
