Recommendations to replace a Sony DVP-S735?

Hi

I have a 4 year old Sony DVP-S735.

Reviews here:

http://www.homecinemachoice.com/revi...nyDVP-S735.php

While DSD playback is stunning, I'm finding it less than cooperative with most of my DVD-R burns and it won't read CD-Rs at all.

The player is 4 years old now and with the rate electronics improve, could I replace it with a budget player and expect the same quality?

I'd be looking at a Panasonic 575, Denon 1710 or Denon 1910.

Anyone know how the picture quality will compare?

Cheers

I'd say you could expect a cheaper player to match in terms of quality, and quite possibly exceed, but in terms of build quality something like a 575 comes a distant second to the 735 you have.

I still use my DVP-S735D as my Denon 2900 is always back at the shop getting upgrades etc so if you go for the Denon hang onto your Sony....sorry Radiohead it had to be said....2900 has now gone back for good and I get an Arcam 79 next week. Having said that picture quality far exceeds the Sony without question, CD is also exceptional - my Sony can't be used for CD's. If I were you look a bit wider...some people have had no problems with their Denon but a quick search on here will back me up with bells on.

Cheers for that, I've just done that & some people seem to have had a tough time with Denon.

I quite fancy the Sony DVP-NS930V now. No DVDA but then again I don't have any DVDAs
