Been looking with interest at the new budget players that now support PAL/NTSC progressive, and DivX.

I have a philips 963SA that I jumped on as one of the first PAL progressive players, and I'm wondering if anyones compared the picture quality. I don't care about SACD, but mp3 playback is essential (ideally navigable without having the TV on)

I keep reading about picture improvements etc, but just how quantifiable are these? Has the law of diminishing returns kicked in yet?

I'm looking for a budgetish machine for the spare room, and progressive would be good to match to the LCD screen thats going in there. But if these are really good machines, I could flog the philips too (it is pretty big)
