Panasonic dmp-bdt 110 owners thread

ive ran a search and nothing came up on this so i'll start one. set this up tonight and encountered a few issues.

audio..i have everything set to bitstream, popped in a blu-ray (jumper)..set the menu's to output dts hd , all im getting is dts... i have my unit going through my amp

is this player dts hd/dolby tru hd out of the box? or does it require a firmware update?

i have a wireless set up at home, but of course the router is too far to use it in a wired capacity

is the anywhere in the menus that covers number of speakers or amp set up?

what other methods is there for firmware updates, as im not knowledgable about such things?? and any ideas about the audio issue,

the machine itself is quiet.

been reading the manual here is the link to the official panasonic website for firmware updates:

problem solved! got my little blue light now, issue in the settings of my amp. the audio sounds better to me, than on my ps3..more robust and dynamic with more detail on movie soundtracks. the picture seems slightly more colourful and dynamic and slightly brighter.

Anybody having problems with SD cards. For some reason mine keeps telling me to format in SD card management. But its already formatted with stuff on it that my bd60 read. Card is a SDHC 4GB Sandisk.

Update: Ok didnt know that SD card management was actually one of the menu options. Strange that I had to reformat it.

wi fi adapter

Has anybody found a usb wi fi adapter that will work with this player the official panasonic DY-WL 10 cost a ridiculous £70 , I've just tried a Dynamode WL-GI-700-11NX [£8] but the player can't see it, I was told at Scan, its a 50/50 chance it would work but i could take it back if not [always had good advice from them] there must be some make that will work ?

Ive heard the Panasonic dongle is actually a Netgear underneath. Maybe try one of those. If you check the BD60 owners thread I think it was talked about there.

Makes you laugh when they want £70 for the dongle yet the 210 model is only £30-£40 more then the 110 and that has built in wi-fi and a touch sensor.

My personal opinion is until the players get Viera Connect then I find wi-fi pretty pointless on these models, of cause there is the DLNA but thats best with a wired connection anyhow.

Thanks Darren, had a look on the bd 60 thread, only reference i can find says the bd 60 only has an ethernet port not usb ? and suggests using a home plug setup which I'm trying to avoid ,the less things plugged in the better

Looking at one of these as my first Bluray player. But I am looking at a one stop box that will work well with movies and music over the DNLA connection and also has iplayer..

Does the PANASONIC DMPBDT110 have iplayer yet and anyone got any feedback regarding the quality of the DNLA feature.

Daren let me know when your films turn up mate! put my request in last monday for the 2 offers!.

it really is fantastic for sound, cant wait to hear the star wars saga on it!..the only problem i seem to have now which is nothing to do with the player (i dont think) is my amp wont lock the set up, which means each time i play a bluray i have to go to my amp setting and manually change to hdmi set up!, which is strange becuase it locks my sky hd and ps3 to the settings, but wont lock on and keep it there for the 110. just keeps changing to analogue which gives no sound whatsoever..might be a handshake issue as im using a 1.4 lead in a 1.3 set up

just switched to sky broadband so im going to wire this baby, for the updates in my living room. and have my pc as wireless. saves on the ridiculous dongle prices...from what i have read the picture and sound from 210/310 are identical to the 110, its only the network and wireless features in particular that are the main difference features

Got mine last week, very light, fast and good picture. I upgraded from the BD35 which I guess is a couple of years old now.

I did firmware update when I got it out of box and it told me friday a new update was available (1.68), like the fact it prompts you on firmware updates.

Made it DVD region free with the remote hack (same remote as I had for the BD35).

Unlikely, the player was not opened and its just a short command sequence to player from a remote.

In fact some places sell them region free out of box.

Would a repair centre ever check or care ?

Its a remote control I purchased couple years ago off ebay, cost about £10 at the time.

Have player on with drawer closed and no disk.

Press yellow button on remote for 3 or more seconds.

Release button with remote pointing at player.

It sends a set of commands to player and after about 10 or 20 seconds player powers down and back up.

Your done.

I expect they are still available on ebay and probably someone has a pronto code for it.

As I had it thought I would give it a whirl and it worked a treat (I did test to first to double check player was only region 2 which it was).

Just looked on ebay, seems they are still for sale.

panasonic remote hack Blue Ray DMP-BD50 multi-region | eBay

Does not mention 110 but it works.

Also you can fast forward through locked tracks (fbi warnings etc)

Ordered the Panny 110 bluray player from Amazon yesterday to catch the 7 disc offer
Just wondering whether the order confirmation email will suffice as receipt instead of the one in the box because often Amazon don't charge the card until just before despatch which will be after the deadline

I think TPS do a region free version of all the players with a full warranty that they'll honour. Really tempted to be able to skip all the adverts and warnings! I'm all grown up, I don't need to be warned, and I've already purchased your disk you don't need to try and sell me more! Grr! :D

How do you guys find the disk noise of the player?

For me it's OK playing blurays but DVDs (at least all the ones I've tried) have a pretty loud disk spinning noise for the whole time it is running. It is truly horrendous on menus but does get borderline acceptable during the film.

I can basically hear it above the soundtrack with the Amp set to a reasonable volume from 10 feet away.

Just out of interest for those with only TV speakers what are all your audio settings in the menu?

anyone tried the 2d to 3d conversion just to test it out yet?

i cannot wait to fire up star wars on this baby..this machine was built for it!..plus i have a 6.1 set up to get the most out of the soundtrack 11 days to go (maybe even sooner)

Produces very good sense of depth and very relaxed viewing.

Basically I watch everything in converted mode

I also find it quite noisy when playing DVDs, compared to my DVD player, but not too bad. However, I have been having real problems with drive noise on some blu rays. On most discs, the player spins up very loudly on the menus and when starting playback, but goes very quiet when the discs actually play. However, on certain discs (including Gulliver's Travels from the free offer), the reverse is true - it's very quiet on the menus and very loud (i.e. audible over even loud action scenes) for about an hour into the movie. I've had two of these players and both have been the same with the same discs.

Hello,

Can anyone confirm if the 110 plays MKV larger than 4GB on a FAT32 File system (im sure this player only supports FAT32) but if someone could confirm that would be great!

Cheers
