Suggestions for Cheap'n'cheerful 'Lounge' player...

Suggestions please to replace the ageing Tosh 3109 currently under the TV in the lounge.
  • Must be RW compatable
  • Easily made MR (already MR?)
  • Will be connected to a 28" WS via RGB scart
There seems to be a glut of 'el cheapo' players that fit the bill - should I still go for a 'name' player (bear in mind it's only going to be hooked-up to a small TV and audio through TV speakers).

Thanks

The Pioneer 575 generally seems to be sold MR, does everything and should offer the compatibility with recorded discs you want as Pioneer are normally quite keen for their units to play DVD/R/W. Failing that the Toshiba 240 is very cheap and is meant to have an excellent picture although I haven't checked how often it is sold MR.

Pioneer DV-370 £75
Sony DVP-355 £70

These 2 are the budget players of choice if you're going for a brand name and not a supermarket cheapie.

Have gone for a Sony DVP-NS355 from Amazon; £69.99 with 3 dvds (2 of which I haven't seen).
Thanks for the replies.
