There was an update to the iPhone media remote app the other day which said it now supported more devices. Could it be that?

Maybe, but not sure why it wouldn't work on either iPhone or android phones.

Advice please!
I'm just about to buy one of these to replace the SD player on my home theatre system. What's the best way to hook it up so that I get surround sound?

Does your Amp have HDMI inputs and/or Digital Coax? Either of those connections will give you surround sound.

Definitely has HDMI (which I assumed would go to the telly) and I can check for digital coax. Thanks for your post.

If there's only 1 HDMI socket, that will be an output. You need an input socket too.
What model of Amp is it?

Ah - it's an all in one system - Samsung. The DVD player doesn't work, so I thought this Sony would be an excellent replacement.

It probably has an optical in you can use for 5.1, but may be worth thinking about getting a new surround sound.

Don't forget that the 380 has no optical out though.

Really!! Didn't realise the s370 does, this is going to cause a problem for anyone with an all-in-one, the OP will be better off looking for a player with optical then.

You need to do a firmware update. Connect it to your router with an Ethernet cable, and scroll to the very far left and up to the top. Update firmware from there.

Ok. On the video section if you move up is there an option to refresh video content? I seem to remember there was when I did mine.
Also, what version firmware does it say you're on? Just checking that you are def on the latest one.
I assume the available Internet services are working correctly?

Is there an option to refresh the video content on the far left menu options, the same way there is on the Sony TVs? If so, try doing that as well.

How about in the network settings. Is there an option to refresh Internet content?

Just a thought, you have registered it haven't you? If not go to "network" and activate advanced features and then follow the instructions. Maybe then you'll get the refresh content option.
Your firmware is right up to date so it's not that.

Are you sure it's a 380, I didn't think they were available from Argos yet only the 370, 470, 570 & 670 models

Unless they've got stock of the 380 early in NI that don't show up online I assume it's the 370 as the firmware No.s are the same for the two models according to the Sony support site.

Not that it's makes a difference in this case I suppose.

I've been mooching around on Amazon and came across an HDMI splitter, would this help if I used one of these on the HDMI out at the back of the amp to connect the TV/Blu ray?
