Any idea which one is better Denon or Onkayo. |
Onkyo TX-SR508B is £240.00 at Amazon. Possibly an option if you have some old but compatible stereo speakers? The Onkyo TX-SR608 is £329.00. They also have AV receiver and speaker packages for £314.99 - £349.99 - although I don't know anything about these.
At a very minimum, if you want HD sound from Blu-Ray, the receiver will need HDMI inputs (but not just HDMI pass-through).
As far as Onkyo vs Denon, they are both popular brands. I personally would consider either brand. In the specifications (in the past - I'm not sure about current models - but possibly) they rate their amplifier power quite differently regarding wattage and distortion, etc.
Some Onkyo's run quite hot - so may require really good ventilation. I use an older Onkyo receiver from a HT package with some AE Neo floor standers at the front and a AE Neo centre speaker (and old speakers at the rear). It sounds quite good - but no HD audio because no HDMI inputs.
That being said, Blu-Ray via SPDIF (coax/optical) although not HD audio still sounds great. :-)
