Marantz DV4300/Sony DVP-NS730/Samsung HD935/Toshiba SD-330

Hi Everyone,

My present system is :
Panasonic TX-28PL1
Amp Panasonic SA-HE7 + 5 speakers and sub
Sony DVP-NS300

Am looking to upgrade my player first (he's 3 years old...)and then the rest in the next year or so (budget pb )...My tv is very basic (S-Video, RGB scart) and amp also (only DD decoder/processor and do not process DTS apparently). I have a budget of £150-£170 for the player.

Have been looking on a lot of different forums and magazines and it looks like that in my price range are the following recommended players :
Marantz DV4300
Sony DVP-NS730
Sony DVP-LS500
Samsung HD935
Toshiba SD-330 (although I heard a lot of bad things..)
can't do Pioneer because of my Panasonic tv and the pbs many times quoted...

I am looking to have a real upgrade on the image and sound, multiregion or easily "hackable", plus accept CDR-W, MP3, JPEG... and has a coaxial output at least.
Thing is although there may be some features i do not need right now (progressive scan, component output, DVI..), i still need some coze i will surely upgrade the rest of the system in the future...
I can't make up my mind so far!!!!
Any help from owners of those players????

Thanks everyone...

I used to have a Tosh 220e and replaced it with a Sony 930. The model up from the 730 you like. The main difference I am told is the SACD.
I would go for the 730 the pic quality and sound after my 220 is superb. Some people on here have liked the limit. Check the comments on these forums on that one.
Good luck.

so the choice is now down to Sony DVP-NS730 Vs Samsung HD-935....
any reason why I should go for one instead of the other?

Thanks again....

I've had a Sony DVP-NS730 for 6 months and I am really pleased with it - superb picture and sound, easy to use remote control and quiet in operation compared to my old Pioneer. It also looks great! I have it connected to my TV via the component sockets with the prog scan enabled and the picture is fantastic!

After 3 years getting by with a PS2 I upgraded to the DV4300. Huge difference, very impressed with the RGB output of this player, sound seems richer with more depth too.

A bargain from Richer Sounds, do a dealtime/pricerunner/kelkoo search, one of the retailers has it for £99
